This was a quick read for me. This review does include spoilers.
Gut reaction to this book is seriously WHAT IS WRONG WITH SOPHIE? I have been married for nearly 20 years, I can see having a fantasy or being “bored”. (For the record Tom, I am not bored – totally love our life!) BUT…her actions are not that of a bored housewife. She has some serious mental issues!
As a Mom of teenage boys, one who is 18. I was totally WTF-ing serval of Sophie’s choices. And for that matter Jill – how can you be friends with Margot?? And the brazen behavior of Margot – seriously do women really act like that????
I must be hanging with a very vanilla crowd because “Girls Night Out” is usually book club. I don’t even know if I could handle a “hunting party” at a club anymore. Charcuterie boards and long drinks on the patio are so much more my speed.
Back to Sophie- I struggled to like and even root for her. She is the main character so in theory, I should have been pulling for her and Graham. Nope…not even close. I hate that Graham let her come back home…she might not be murder guilty but she is guilty of a few sins I’m not sure I could forgive.
I also wonder if Sophie would want to go back to Graham if Margot was available? How do you settle back into being “just a housewife” after recklessly indulging on all your impulses?
All in all I enjoyed the book, it was a little predictable but I enjoyed the twists and do recommend the read.
Next up – I will be watching; The Hunting Wives on Netflix to see how the series follows (or does not follow) the book.
